Working in museum, gallery and public settings Kurt Perschke pursues ideas about sculptural presence and the visualization of environments. Projects such as RedBall seek to translate that ephemeral experience into a public context, while video animations like the Momentary Geometry Series pursue it more idiosyncratically.
Kurt Perschke was selected for the Busan Biennale in 2006, as part of the Contemporary Art projects. In New York he was an AIM Fellow at the Bronx Museum in 2005 where he exhibited in AIM25. His video work has also been screened at the Kunstvlaai 5 Video Festival in Amsterdam and the Santa Fe Art Institute. His public projects have taken place in Barcelona, Korea, St. Louis, Portland, and in Sydney, Australia. He has worked with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona and been commissioned by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, the Vienna Technical Museum and the City of Sydney.
Other projects include St. Louis Brick a commissioned artist book edition from the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis., a Dave Muller Three Day Weekend, and ongoing studio work. Born in Chicago and based in Manhattan, Kurt Perschke has also lived in the Virgin Islands, St. Louis, Vienna, and Cairo, Egypt.
